COMPOSER
Nancy Tucker approaches the guitar as if it were a miniature playground. She explores every sound possible from the strings, body, pegs, raw-wood, frets and even the strap. Then she cleverly integrates those sounds into instrumentals that depict grasshoppers at a cocktail party, or a recalcitrant washing machine on overload, or a cacophony of insect sounds blended into a rhythmic symphony. Whether playing her heartfelt melodic Fingerstyle compositions or her inventive percussion-isms, Nancy’s engaging approach to acoustic guitar shines with personality.
In addition to guitar, Nancy writes compositions for a variety of other instruments including strings, percussion and woodwinds, just to name a few. These works range from moving string quartets to humorous marimba / woodblock / violin / bassoon miniatures. As a composer, nothing escapes her insatiable curiosity. Her original scores interpret the thrilling sounds of nature from tiny cricket to tumultuous storm, while others illuminate the deepest questions of the heart.
“ … a fierce guitar that breaks a sweat under the weight of her compositions.”
THE CONCORD JOURNAL

”I know a lot of people know Nancy Tucker as a comedian-musician-performer-extraordinaire, but I know her as a virtuoso guitarist, who is a delight to collaborate with."
RAW DESIGN LAB Douglass Ridgeway
“Nancy’s inventive instrumentals evoke feelings and images in the listener that express a depth and range of qualities difficult to capture in words … soothing, wistful, turbulent, playful.”
